What is SEO?

As you already know, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Search Engine Optimization is action of improving the ranking of a website in the various search engines; using different techniques. The end result sought after is an increase in the number of visits to the "optomized" website, and in turn an increase in business generated by the website.

Note: An important fact to remember is that it is not necessarily the volume of traffic that you get to your website that matters. What matters is the quality of that traffic, and the resulting phone calls (or other "web events").

Simple facts about SEO

First let's start by analyzing the claims that a lot of companies out there make, that is "we can put you on the first page of ***". Can they? Really? Let's consider the following example:

Fact1: there is usually 10 results on the first page of results of a search engine.

Fact2: there is more than 10 lawyers (or other profession) in the same general area(let's assume 50 in Fort Lauderdale, FL).

Question: How can 50 results fit in 10 spots for results?

Answer: They can't!

Conclusion: Someone doesn't have their story straight when they tell you that they are going to put you in the top 10 results. So how about the 40 others? Nobody is selling SEO services to them?
